There is a very specific type of exhaustion that comes from being “known.”
For those of us with Dyslexia and ADHD, our lives have often been lived under a microscope. We are the “Lost Generations” who spent years wondering why the world felt like it was written in a language we couldn’t quite speak. We’ve sat in clinical rooms, answered questionnaires, and waited for that final piece of paper—the diagnosis—that finally explained the “why.”
Recently, I sat in another room (ok it was a zoom call but its all the same) with another professional and another notepad. This was the Assessment for Pastoral Wellbeing (APW)—the psychological check-in that every candidate for ordination goes through.
Going in, I felt that old, familiar weight. I felt like a patient again.
