“Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. ‘Do you understand what you are reading?’ Philip asked.” — Acts 8:30 (NIV)

The Ethiopian eunuch was reading the text, but he needed someone to sit beside him to make it make sense. As neurodivergent candidates, we are often handed massive theological reading lists and left to figure it out alone, which can trigger deep shame. It is a profound act of vulnerability—and a very biblical one—to turn to your DDO or a mentor and say, “I need you to explain this to me.”

The Question: Who is the “Philip” in your life that you can ask to help translate the dense language of the Church?
