While this Substack serves as a home for my personal reflections, theological musings, and journey through faith, the heart of DwD has always been about something much bigger than just one person. It is a shared space, a practical resource, and a collective voice for neurodivergent individuals navigating their calling within the Church of England.

Our core mission is simple: to help those with neurodiversity—whether you have dyslexia, ADHD, autism, or AuDHD—achieve more through the Church’s Shared Discernment Process.

What to Expect

Navigating institutional systems can be deeply draining, particularly when your brain processes the world differently. Here on Substack and across our wider platform, we aim to bridge that gap through:

  • Honest Reflections: This journal is where we unpack the reality of our journeys. You will find candid reflections on scripture, the everyday ups and downs of life, and the unique experience of walking out a Christian calling as a neurodivergent person.

  • Clear Guidance: Alongside our reflections, we provide resources designed to break down each step of the Discernment Process into the simplest possible terms. Whether you are just beginning informal conversations with your Diocesan Director of Ordinands (DDO) or are anxiously awaiting your post-Stage 2 results, we are here to help demystify the journey.

  • Advocating for Change: We love the Church, but we also recognise its flaws. Through our writing, we actively push to drive genuine, systemic change within the Church of England, ensuring its structures become truly accessible to everyone.

Who Is This For?

Discern with Dyslexia is written for a broad, inclusive community:

  • Candidates: Anyone currently exploring their vocational calling or actively moving through the Shared Discernment Process.

  • Incumbents & Supporters: Church leaders and friends walking alongside neurodivergent individuals, looking to understand how to provide the best possible support.

  • DDO’s, Bishops & Senior Leadership: Those at the highest levels of the Church who want a ground-level, unfiltered view of what the discernment process actually feels like for neurodiverse candidates.
